7 Brands I’m Loving for Ballet Flats with Comfortable, Timeless Styles

As we move into spring and summer, I find myself naturally reaching for a comfortable ballet flat. It’s one of those pieces that feels effortless yet put together, easy to style, versatile, and a true staple in a French-inspired wardrobe.

For this mini edit, I wanted to share a mix of personal favorites I already wear alongside other brands I’ve been hearing great things about and am excited to explore. Think of this as a starting point, a small, curated selection of styles that feel both wearable and timeless, and that I’m currently drawn to this season.

Of course, this list will continue to grow over time. If you’re looking to explore more French brands, you might also enjoy my 16 French Shoe Brands for an Effortlessly Elegant Wardrobe edit.

But for now, let’s dive into this mini selection!

Founded by Sarah Pierson and Alexa Buckley, Margaux was created to bridge the gap between style and comfort, with a focus on thoughtful design, inclusive sizing, and soft, flexible materials that make everyday shoes feel as good as they look. The Demi ballet flat has become their signature, a classic rounded-toe silhouette with a delicate bow detail that feels timeless and easy to wear.

I personally own the Demi, and they are by far one of the most comfortable ballet flats I’ve ever worn. There was essentially no break-in period, I wore them right away and had zero blisters, which is rare for me as I have very sensitive feet. They’re the pair I reach for constantly, whether I’m running errands, heading to a meeting, or going out to dinner, they’ve truly become my go-to.

I’m already looking to add another pair, the cap-toe Demi is high on my list, and I also love the square-toe Fontenay for a slightly more modern take. I’ve also been hearing great things about their sandals, so if you’re looking to explore the brand further, it’s one I would absolutely recommend.

Why I Love It:

  • Exceptionally comfortable, with little to no break-in time

  • Soft, flexible construction that works well for sensitive feet

  • A timeless silhouette that feels polished yet easy to wear

  • Thoughtful design that prioritizes both fit and everyday wearability

Best For: Comfortable ballet flats, everyday wear, and anyone looking for a polished shoe that doesn’t compromise on ease.

Founded in Paris in 1947, Repetto began when Rose Repetto created ballet slippers inspired by her son Roland Petit’s passion for dance. What started near the Opéra quickly evolved into a maison known for its sense of grace, movement, and timeless elegance. By the 1950s, its ballerinas were already iconic, most notably the Cendrillon, created for Brigitte Bardot.

Today, Repetto remains synonymous with French savoir-faire, still crafted using its signature cousu retourné technique in its French atelier. Bridging its ballet heritage with modern fashion, the brand continues to create beautifully made shoes that feel both classic and effortlessly relevant.

I’ll be in Paris this June and am planning to visit one of their boutiques to try a few pairs in person. The Cendrillon has always stood out to me as a classic, but I’m also considering the Camille, as I love the idea of a ballet flat with a slight heel for a more elevated feel. I’ll definitely share more once I’ve had the chance to try them on, and possibly bring a pair back.

Why I Love It:

  • An iconic French house with a rich ballet heritage that feels instantly recognizable

  • Delicate, feminine silhouettes that add a soft, polished touch to everyday outfits

  • Craftsmanship rooted in traditional techniques, giving each pair a refined, almost couture-like feel

  • Styles that feel timeless yet still relevant, easy to wear season after season

Best For: Ballet flats with a true Parisian feel, elegant everyday styling, and those drawn to heritage craftsmanship and timeless design.

Founded in 2013 by Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel, Mansur Gavriel is known for its elevated, minimalist approach to everyday luxury. Built on a foundation of thoughtful design, quality materials, and clean, sculptural silhouettes, the brand quickly gained recognition with its now-iconic Bucket and Tote bags.

Rooted in a balance of simplicity and individuality, Mansur Gavriel continues to create pieces that feel modern yet timeless, with an emphasis on craftsmanship and understated elegance. Designed in New York and crafted with artisans around the world, the brand brings a refined perspective to everyday essentials.

I’ve always loved their handbags and find myself consistently drawn to their aesthetic. Lately, I’ve been seeing more and more great reviews about their ballet flats, especially when it comes to comfort and durability, which makes me really curious to explore them further.

Why I Love It:

  • Minimal, refined designs that feel elevated

  • A strong focus on materials and craftsmanship

  • Styles that balance modern simplicity with timeless appeal

  • A brand I already love and trust, especially when it comes to quality

Best For: Minimal, elevated ballet flats, everyday wear, and those drawn to clean, modern design with a focus on quality.

Founded in 2015 by Maria Gangemi and Cheryl Kaplan, M.Gemi was created with the goal of preserving generations-old Italian craftsmanship while reimagining what modern luxury footwear could look like. Inspired by Maria’s upbringing in Italy and the artisans she grew up watching, the brand works directly with small, family-owned workshops to produce beautifully made shoes rooted in tradition.

Every pair is crafted in Italy using high-quality materials, with a strong emphasis on leather sourced from responsible, certified tanneries. The result is a collection that feels both elevated and practical, designed to fit seamlessly into everyday life while honoring the heritage behind it.

With Italian leather, you really can’t go wrong, and M.Gemi is a brand that reflects that beautifully. One of my closest friends owns the Una and absolutely swears by them, she says they’re the most comfortable shoes she owns. After hearing that, it’s definitely a pair I’m now very curious to try for myself.

Why I Love It:

  • Italian craftsmanship that feels both timeless and reliable

  • High-quality leather that molds beautifully to the foot

  • Styles designed with both comfort and structure in mind

  • A brand known for creating shoes that hold up to everyday wear

Best For: Comfortable, well-structured ballet flats, everyday wear, and anyone looking for Italian-made shoes that balance quality with practicality.

Founded in 2016, Le Monde Béryl is a London-based brand inspired by traditional European silhouettes, from Venetian gondolier slippers to classic ballerinas and riding boots. Each pair is sustainably produced and hand-finished in Italy by skilled artisans, with a focus on form, movement, and understated beauty.

Rooted in the founders’ backgrounds in the art world, the brand approaches design with a highly considered perspective, drawing inspiration from everything from film and painting to architecture and sculpture. The result is a collection of shoes that feel minimal yet deeply thoughtful, with refined details and a clear, distinctive design language.

I’ve been seeing this brand come up more and more, with consistently positive reviews, and I’ve always been drawn to their aesthetic and unique take on classic silhouettes. Their ballet flats feel especially elevated, and it’s definitely a brand I’d love to explore more.

Why I Love It:

  • Refined, minimalist designs with a strong point of view

  • Beautiful balance of artistry and everyday wearability

  • Thoughtful craftsmanship rooted in Italian tradition

  • Aesthetic that feels distinctive yet timeless

Best For: Elevated ballet flats, unique yet wearable silhouettes, and those drawn to design-forward pieces with a timeless feel.

Founded in 2012 by Cristina Palomo Nelson and Megan Papay, Freda Salvador is a California-based brand rooted in friendship, craftsmanship, and a modern approach to timeless design. Combining Cristina’s heritage in shoemaking with Megan’s background in styling, the brand focuses on creating elevated classics with distinctive, thoughtful details.

Each piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans in heritage factories across Spain, Italy, and El Salvador, using high-quality materials sourced primarily from Europe. Known for its subtle yet recognizable design elements, from woven textures to sculptural finishes, Freda Salvador creates shoes that feel both refined and unique, designed to be worn and lived in over time.

I recently added their fisherman sandals and have been loving them, they’re incredibly comfortable and easy to wear day to day. Based on that experience, I can imagine their ballet flats, like the Jada, would be just as well made and wearable. I’ve also been seeing consistently great reviews, so they’re definitely on my wishlist to try next.

Why I Love It:

  • Elevated, modern designs with subtle, distinctive details

  • Strong focus on craftsmanship and high-quality materials

  • Styles that feel both unique and easy to wear

  • A brand I’ve personally had a great experience with in terms of comfort

Best For: Elevated everyday shoes, modern ballet flats, and those looking for something slightly more distinctive while still timeless.

Madewell is a brand I’ve come back to consistently over the years when it comes to everyday shoes that feel both easy and reliable. From sandals to heels to loafers, I’ve owned a variety of styles from them, and they’ve always been comfortable and pieces I continue to reach for regularly.

I wanted to include them in this edit because they offer a more accessible price point while still delivering on comfort, something that can be harder to find with ballet flats. I personally own the Greta flats and have been really happy with them, they’re simple, easy to style, and have held up well over time.

One small tip, when I first received them, the elastic strap felt a bit tight on my foot. To adjust it, I wore a couple pairs of socks, gently warmed the strap with a hair dryer, and stretched it slightly. The heat helped the elastic relax and mold more comfortably to my foot, and now they fit perfectly.

If you do try this, just be sure to wear a few layers of socks to protect your feet and stretch the elastic gradually!

Why I Love It:

  • Consistently comfortable across multiple styles I’ve owned

  • Easy, everyday designs that integrate seamlessly into a wardrobe

  • A more accessible option without sacrificing wearability

  • A reliable brand I’ve personally come back to over time

Best For: Everyday ballet flats, accessible price points, and comfortable shoes you can wear on repeat.

Final Thoughts

Ballet flats are one of those pieces that quietly become a staple, easy to reach for, effortless to style, and able to carry you through everything from everyday errands to workdays and travel. They strike that balance between comfort and polish in a way that feels especially relevant as we move into spring and summer.

What I love about this category is how much variety there is, from softer, more traditional silhouettes to slightly more structured or modern interpretations. Whether you’re drawn to heritage brands rooted in craftsmanship or newer labels reimagining the classic flat, there’s truly something for every style and routine.

This edit is just a starting point, a small selection of brands I’ve personally loved, worn, or am excited to explore. As always, I’ll continue to discover and share more, especially as I test new pairs and see how they fit into real life.

If you’re building a more intentional wardrobe, a comfortable, well-made ballet flat is one of those pieces that can make getting dressed feel that much easier, something you’ll reach for again and again, season after season!
