Inside Ateliers Auguste Paris: A Visit to One of My Favorite French Handbag Brands
During my recent month in France, one boutique I was especially excited to visit was Ateliers Auguste.
I've admired the brand for several years and have loved carrying my Monceau Baguette, so stepping inside the boutique for the first time felt like a natural stop during my time in Paris.
Located on Rue de Turenne in Le Marais, just a short walk from Place des Vosges, the boutique is surrounded by one of my favorite neighborhoods to explore. It's the perfect place to slow down, browse beautifully crafted leather goods, and discover the collection in person.
The team welcomed me warmly and generously shared more about the brand, its craftsmanship, and the inspiration behind each collection. Seeing the different leathers, colors, and silhouettes up close gave me an even greater appreciation for the thoughtful details behind every design.
If you're planning to spend time exploring Le Marais, I would absolutely recommend stopping by Ateliers Auguste.
A French Brand with Italian Craftsmanship
One of my favorite parts of the visit was learning more about how each Ateliers Auguste bag comes to life.
The bags are designed in Paris by two brothers and handcrafted in Padua, Italy, a region celebrated for generations of leather craftsmanship. French design paired with Italian savoir-faire creates handbags that feel refined, elegant, and made to accompany you for many years.
Every piece is crafted from Italian calf leather, while the crocodile and lizard finishes are beautifully embossed calfskin. The stainless steel hardware adds both durability and a clean, understated finish.
I also appreciated learning about the brand's approach to responsible production. The leather is sourced from the food industry, complies with European REACH standards, and is tanned by a Leather Working Group-certified partner.
The collection itself feels wonderfully intentional. Alongside four permanent colors, Ateliers Auguste introduces just two seasonal collections each year, with every limited-edition color produced in only twenty-five pieces.
One detail I especially loved is that every handbag is named after a Parisian street. It's a thoughtful nod to the city the brand calls home and makes each design feel even more connected to Paris.
The Summer Collection
One of the highlights of my visit was exploring Ateliers Auguste's summer collection.
As someone whose wardrobe is built around soft neutrals, I naturally loved seeing all of the classic shades in person. But one color I kept coming back to was the beautiful limoncello yellow.
There was something so fresh and effortless about it. I immediately pictured it styled with a white linen dress, woven sandals, and simple gold jewelry for summer, or paired with relaxed denim and a crisp white shirt for an easy day exploring Paris.
It was such a fun reminder that even a subtle pop of color can bring a fresh perspective to a wardrobe while still feeling elegant and timeless.
If you've had your eye on one of the seasonal colors, many of this summer's shades are currently on sale.
A Preview of the Autumn Collection
Before leaving, I also had the chance to preview a few of the upcoming autumn arrivals.
One of my favorite details was seeing the beautiful suede leathers that will be part of the new collection. I've always loved the clean lines of the Monceau silhouette, and seeing it in these rich autumn shades made me even more excited for the collection to launch. I can already imagine how beautiful the Monceau Baguette will look in suede.
The real standout for me, though, was the new Passy East West. Its elongated silhouette feels elegant, modern, and incredibly versatile, and it immediately earned a spot on my wish list. It's the kind of bag I can picture styling with relaxed denim and loafers, or carrying with a simple dress for dinner.
Exploring both the current collection and a preview of what was to come made it difficult to choose a favorite. Every silhouette has its own personality, but there was one bag I found myself drawn back to throughout my visit.
The Bag I Kept Coming Back To
Le Mini Marly was the style I couldn't stop trying on.
After seeing the entire collection together, it's easy to understand why it has become one of Ateliers Auguste's signature bags. The proportions feel beautifully balanced, the silhouette is elegant without feeling overly formal, and despite its compact size, it comfortably fits the everyday essentials I tend to carry.
The zip closure keeps everything secure, while the clean lines and understated hardware give it an elegant finish. It felt like one of those bags that effortlessly transitions from everyday errands to dinner while traveling.
After trying on several colors, I kept coming back to Taupe.
Since I already own the Monceau Baguette in Chocolate Brown, I wanted to choose a color that would bring something a little different to my collection while still feeling true to the way I dress. Taupe immediately felt like that color.
Soft, versatile, and easy to style, it's one of those shades I can imagine carrying with almost everything I already own, from white linen in the summer and relaxed denim year-round to cozy knits and tailored wool coats as the seasons change.
Whenever I'm adding a handbag to my collection, I naturally think about how it will fit into my everyday wardrobe. I love pieces that work across seasons, pair effortlessly with what I already own, and still feel just as beautiful years from now. Le Mini Marly in Taupe checked every one of those boxes, which made it feel like the perfect choice for me.
