Rouje x J.Crew Try-On Haul: What I Tried, Loved, and Brought Home

After covering the Rouje x J.Crew collab from an editorial lens, I knew I had to see the pieces in person. And let me tell you, this collection is just as dreamy in-store. Full of feminine silhouettes, thoughtful details, and that signature blend of French charm and American ease, it truly feels like a love letter between two icons!
Here’s a closer look at the pieces I tried on, sizing, what stood out, and what I took home:
1. The Red Polka Dot Slip Dress

This piece captures the effortless elegance we’ve come to expect from Rouje. It immediately made me think of a summer date night, romantic, timeless, and so easy to style!
Sizing: I’m wearing the size 6, the straps are adjustable!
Fit Note: The bow at the neckline is embroidered rather than tied, which caught me off guard at first, but it’s actually a great touch. It stays perfectly in place and won’t unravel or need adjusting after washing!
Styling Tip: Add kitten heels, a classic trench, and you’re ready for dinner in the city or a stroll through Montmartre!
2. The Navy Polka Dot Dress

With delicate lace trim and a floaty feel, this one brought in that soft vintage touch Rouje is known for. The mix of dot sizes gives it such a cute personality!
Sizing: I’m wearing the size 6 in this dress.
Fit Note: The side on the wrap dress does open slightly when walking, so I’d recommend being mindful of movement or adding a slip for extra coverage!
Styling Tip: A raffia bag and slingback flats would take this from Paris to New York effortlessly!
3. The Purple and Red Floral Set

This was such a flirty, bold moment! Between the top and the skirt, I definitely gravitated toward the skirt. It had a beautiful 90s flow and felt much more flattering on me. The top, on the other hand, didn’t feel quite as structured and didn’t suit my frame unfortunately!
They also offer this set in a cream version that I tried on, but the color didn’t work for me. It felt a bit too muted and washed me out, especially compared to the vibrancy of the other set!
Sizing: I’m wearing the size 6 in the top and a Medium in the skirt!
Styling Tip: Pair the skirt with a simple white tank or blouse to let the print shine!
4. The Red Sweater Top

I didn’t expect to love this one as much as I did! The knit is soft yet holds its shape, and the deep red hue felt rich and bold without being overpowering. This is such a good transition piece too, and one I’m definitely thinking about going back for if it’s still in stock in my size!
Sizing: I’m wearing the size Medium in the top and a Medium in the skirt!
Styling Tip: Such a versatile piece, can be worn with a skirt or cute shorts but also you can wear it with dark-wash denim and loafers for a polished fall look that still feels light, add a trench coat for extra french flair!
5. The White Tee with Red Floral Embroidery

You know I love a good basic, with a twist! This tee felt like exactly that: easy, wearable, but with just enough charm thanks to the delicate red floral embroidery and sweet ruffle sleeve detail!
Sizing: I’m wearing the size Small in the top and a Medium in the skirt! I’m typically between a Small and a Medium these days and I preferred a more fitted look for this type of top!
Styling Tip: This tee would work beautifully with straight-leg jeans, a woven bag, and minimal gold jewelry!
What I Took Home

Out of everything I tried, the embroidered white tee was the piece I kept thinking about (although I am still thinking about that red sweater top too...). The tee fits seamlessly into my current wardrobe and adds just the right amount of interest! A beautiful reminder that sometimes, the simplest pieces are the ones we reach for most!

And if you’re wondering about sizing, I found everything to run pretty true to size! Note: the store I visited didn’t have the full collection in stock, I'm still hoping to try on the black knit dress, blue knit set and blazer, which look just as dreamy online!
