Style Guide Roulette: A New Series Where My Closet Meets the Guides

Shop the Look

If you've ever saved an outfit and thought, “I want to wear that someday,” you're not alone. I’ve created hundreds of style guides over time, many inspired by pieces I already wear and love, or have on my wish list. That’s what sparked the idea for Style Guide Roulette, a new recurring series where I revisit my own outfit guides and bring them to life, spontaneously, practically, and toujours with a little French flair!

Whether you're working on a capsule wardrobe, looking for fresh styling ideas, or just want that extra nudge to make the most of what you already love, this one’s for you.

This Week’s Outfit: Casual, Chic, and a Touch of Rouge

Shop the Look

For the first round of Style Guide Roulette, I landed on a look that felt timeless, versatile, and effortlessly chic: a light blue button-down, white tee, classic denim, a woven tote, and a bold pop of red with ballet flats. It’s one of those easy, elevated outfits that works for everything from a casual coffee run to a weekend market stroll. And with 4th of July coming up, it felt like a fun little French-American twist!

Here’s how I styled it:

  • White Tee: A cotton crewneck I’ve had for years

  • Light Blue Button-Down: Slightly oversized and perfect for layering

  • Denim: Straight-leg jeans, casually cuffed

  • Woven Tote: Adds texture and a bit of summer charm

  • Red Ballet Flats: A playful pop of color that adds contrast to the otherwise neutral palette

Style with Intention, Shop with Purpose

Many of the style guides I create are inspired by pieces I love, wear often, or have on my wish list. That’s what makes this series so fun. Style Guide Roulette is a chance to get inspired, see what I’m truly drawn to, and notice the pieces that might be missing from my wardrobe.

If you keep saving outfits featuring the same item like a structured blazer, a striped knit, or a statement shoe, it could be a sign that it’s time to add it to your rotation!

And if you’re curious about trying something new or bold, starting with an affordable version is a great way to test it out. My red flats were a Target sale find from last year (they’re sold out now but I’ve linked similar finds), and now they’re one of my favorite finishing touches!

This approach helps you:

  • Identify what you gravitate toward naturally

  • Build a closet that reflects your personal style

  • Shop more intentionally, in a way that feels true to you

A Few Smart Styling Tips

  • Repeat = reward: If a certain piece shows up in your saved looks again and again, it’s probably a gap worth filling

  • Build your base: A solid foundation of go-to pieces like a great tee, denim, or button-down makes styling easy. From there, layer in your own je ne sais quoi

  • Try affordable or secondhand first: For pieces you’re unsure about (like a bold print or red shoes), Poshmark, Vinted, Target, or your local thrift store are great places to fill in wardrobe gaps if you’re on a budget or just open to the hunt!

Final Thoughts: More Rounds Coming Soon…

This series is meant to be a fun and flexible way to rediscover outfits, make intentional style choices, and get creative with the pieces you already love while discovering what might be missing. I’m already excited for the next roulette spin!
