Postcards from Pézenas: Recent Boutique Finds in the South of France
I’ve officially been back in my hometown of Pézenas in the South of France for a few days now, and it has been so nice settling back into the slower rhythm of life here.
The first few days still had that soft spring feeling in the mornings and evenings, which made me very happy I packed a few layers, but starting tomorrow we’re finally heading into beautiful 80 to 90 degree weather and it truly feels like summer in the South of France is arriving.
So far, I’ve mostly been enjoying simple days, walking around town, spending time with family, lingering a little longer over meals, stopping into my favorite little restaurants, and wandering through boutiques around Pézenas.
This time of year here always feels especially beautiful. The jasmine and roses have started climbing the sides of the old medieval buildings again, flower boxes spill onto little stone streets, and every walk through town somehow feels like stepping into a postcard. Between the cobblestone streets, colorful shutters, tiny cafés, and charming little boutiques tucked into centuries-old buildings, it becomes very easy to spend an entire afternoon simply wandering.
And of course, those little wanderings have already led to a few beautiful discoveries!
One of my favorite things about shopping in smaller towns in France is that the boutiques always feel incredibly curated and personal. You walk in searching for one thing and somehow leave having discovered an entirely new brand, the perfect summer piece, or something you instantly know will become a favorite in your wardrobe.
Over the past few days, I’ve already come across a few pieces that I know are going to become favorites while I’m here, including a beautiful wedding guest dress, the perfect little black dress, a chic summer set, romantic lace pieces, and finally, cream denim that fits exactly how I always hope denim will fit.
I also did my best to find and link as many of the exact pieces as possible at the end of this post. A few of these French brands do not currently ship internationally at the moment, but if you love the overall style and inspiration behind the pieces, I’ve also included similar options that capture the same feeling and aesthetic.
White Blouse & Cream Denim
I think this may honestly be one of my favorite finds from the trip so far, discovered at a little boutique called Comme Une Hirondelle here in Pézenas.
I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of cream denim for such a long time, and somehow could never find a pair that felt quite right. I wanted something flattering without being too rigid, comfortable enough for everyday wear, and most importantly, the right length and cut for me.
The moment I tried this pair on, I immediately knew they were exactly what I had been looking for.
They’re from Oraije, and I’m genuinely so excited to finally have a pair of cream denim in my wardrobe because it has felt like such a gap for me for the longest time. I already know these are going to become one of those pieces I wear constantly throughout spring and summer.
About Oraije: a French family-founded denim brand created by David and Jessica, a couple deeply connected to the world of textiles and denim through both family heritage and fashion training in Paris. The vision behind the brand came from wanting to create denim that truly adapts to women and everyday life, combining comfort, elegance, and flattering fits all at once. The idea for Oraije was born while Jessica was sitting at a Parisian café terrace observing women of all ages and lifestyles searching for the same thing, denim that feels beautiful, effortless, comfortable, and easy to live in. After trying these on, I completely understood the vision.
I paired the denim with this romantic white lace blouse from InApril1896, which instantly caught my eye while wandering through boutiques in Pézenas.
I absolutely love a lace blouse detail. To me, it’s one of those timeless pieces that perfectly captures that effortless chic feeling often associated with French style. It works with everything, denim, linen trousers, skirts, shorts, and always adds a little more texture and interest compared to a simple plain white top.
I had actually seen InApril1896 on social media before coming to France, so I was very excited to finally try one of their pieces in person.
About InApril1896: a French brand known for feminine, romantic pieces with delicate details that still feel wearable and effortless for everyday life. Their collections perfectly balance softness and timelessness while still feeling modern and easy to style, which I feel this blouse captures perfectly. I was also pleasantly surprised by the pricing, especially for how beautiful and detailed the piece feels in person.
The Handwoven Raffia Basket
Another favorite find from my first few days back in Pézenas has been this beautiful oversized raffia basket from Sovani, which I already know is going to follow me everywhere this summer.
To me, a woven basket is one of those timeless pieces that instantly captures the feeling of summer in the South of France. Whether it’s carried to the market, filled with flowers after a morning walk through town, brought to the beach, or simply paired with linen and denim for everyday life, it always adds that effortless warmth and texture to an outfit.
What made this one feel especially special is learning that each raffia piece is entirely handmade in workshops located in the hills above Antananarivo, Madagascar, using traditional craftsmanship passed down through generations.
About Sovani: They design their pieces in Paris before handcrafting them in Madagascar using raffia, a completely natural fiber sourced from the Raphia Farinifera palm native to Madagascar.
I especially loved discovering the story behind the craftsmanship because each piece feels incredibly artisanal and thoughtful while still remaining timeless and easy to wear. The raffia fibers are entirely natural and environmentally respectful, which gives the bags that beautiful organic texture that only becomes prettier with time and wear.
There’s something very authentic and effortless about a handwoven basket like this that feels perfectly at home wandering through the cobblestone streets of Pézenas.
Pink Dress, Little Black Dress & a Summer Set
Several of the pieces I’ve been discovering during my first few days back in Pézenas have been from Grace & Mila, a French brand I had been wanting to try for quite some time.
I first came across the brand while wandering through a charminglittle concept store in Pézenas called Créalisa, filled with clothing, jewelry, home décor, accessories, and beautifully curated little details. It instantly felt like the kind of boutique perfectly suited to a slow afternoon wandering through the South of France.
About Grace & Mila: the brand was created by two sisters and a brother who left their hometown of Troyes to build the brand together in Paris. Growing up surrounded by the world of ready-to-wear through their entrepreneurial parents, they dreamed of creating feminine and refined collections designed to highlight every woman and every personality.
What I love most about the brand is how wearable everything feels while still maintaining that very Parisian elegance. Their collections blend softness, femininity, and timeless silhouettes in a way that feels effortless and easy for everyday life.
There’s also a beautiful mix of influences throughout the brand inspired by both their French and Chinese heritage, which gives the collections a unique balance of refinement, craftsmanship, and thoughtful details.
And honestly, after trying several pieces in person, I completely understood the appeal.
A Bright Pop of Pink
The first piece that immediately caught my eye was this bright pink linen dress, which feels so fun and vibrant for summer in the South of France.
I actually have a wedding coming up while I’m here in France, and the moment I tried this dress on, I immediately thought it could be such a perfect option. It instantly made me think of warm evenings, little aperitif moments outside, long dinners as the sun starts to set, and summer celebrations in the South of France.
I paired it with colorful bracelets from Bellemaispasque, which added the perfect playful little detail to the look.
The Summer Set
And finally, this black summer set may end up becoming one of my favorite finds from the trip so far.
I’ve actually been looking for a set like this for quite some time, but I often find that the more classic button-up versions never really suit my frame the way I want them to. This wrap-top version immediately felt different.
The silhouette feels structured, flattering, and incredibly chic while still remaining comfortable enough for everyday wear. I also love that the pieces work beautifully together as a set but can just as easily be styled separately.
The top paired with denim or linen trousers, or the shorts styled with a simple tank or oversized knit, it’s exactly the kind of versatile wardrobe piece I love adding into my closet because it integrates so naturally with everything else I already own.
The Little Black Dress
I also found the perfect little black dress, one of those timeless wardrobe pieces that somehow works for absolutely everything.
What I love most about this one is how easy and comfortable it feels while still looking chic and polished. The flowy silhouette makes it incredibly wearable for everyday life while still feeling elevated enough for dinners, date nights, or evenings out.
I already know this is going to become one of those dresses I constantly reach for while I’m here in France because it’s the kind of piece you can throw on effortlessly and instantly feel put together.
Statement Earrings & Summer Jewelry
And finally, I also discovered a few jewelry pieces along the way that instantly felt perfect for summer in the South of France.
I found a pair of fun statement earrings in a little boutique called Maison Maée in Pézenas that I could not leave behind. They’re exactly the kind of piece I love during summer because they instantly elevate an outfit and make even the simplest dress feel a little more special for dinners, aperitifs, or evenings out.
I’ve also been wearing a few pieces from my favorite French jewelry brand Agapée, including a ring and necklace from their new Solé collection, which I absolutely adore.
I’ve genuinely been wearing them nonstop since arriving in France. I love that the collection is inspired by the sun because it feels especially meaningful while being back here in the South of France.
There’s something very warm and nostalgic about wearing little sun-inspired pieces here, almost like carrying a small reminder of the South of France with me throughout the day.
About Agapée: A Paris-based jewelry brand inspired by the warmth, history, and timeless beauty of the Mediterranean. The name itself comes from the Ancient Greek word “agápē,” meaning love, which feels very reflective of the brand’s overall world and aesthetic. Their collections blend ancient influences with modern craftsmanship, creating pieces that feel timeless, meaningful, and easy to wear every day.
I’ve always loved how their jewelry carries this slightly sun-worn, organic texture inspired by archaeological findings and traditional Mediterranean craftsmanship while still feeling refined and minimal at the same time.
Beyond the aesthetic itself, I also really appreciate the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability. Their pieces are designed in Paris using recycled and ethically sourced gold, and everything feels incredibly thoughtful, from the jewelry itself to the storytelling behind each collection.
I also found this beaded pink bracelet from Bellemaispasque, which paired perfectly with the bright pink linen dress and added such a fun pop of color and warmth to the look.
About Bellemaispasque: Inspired by travels through Bali and Turkey, blending sunshine-filled inspiration, craftsmanship, friendship, and individuality into colorful jewelry pieces designed to feel personal and expressive. The brand was created around the idea of celebrating both connection and individuality through jewelry that women can mix, layer, and truly make their own.
I especially loved discovering the story behind the brand because there’s something very joyful and warm about the pieces while still feeling refined and wearable.
Their collections balance bohemian inspiration with softness and elegance, creating jewelry that feels perfect for summer dressing, especially here in the South of France where colorful accessories, woven textures, and playful details always seem to feel right at home.
I love how these little jewelry details instantly bring more personality into an outfit and make everything feel a little warmer, more playful, and perfectly suited for summer in the South of France.
Shop the Pieces
I did my best to find and link as many of the exact pieces as possible from my time wandering through Pézenas over these past few days.
A few of these French brands do not currently ship internationally at the moment, but if you love the overall style and inspiration behind the looks, I’ve also included similar alternatives that capture the same effortless South of France feeling.
Shop in Person
