I can’t help it! I’m already giddy for fall! It’s one of my favorite seasons to dress for. The textures get softer, the layers more interesting, and yes... brace yourself, because my favorite trench coat is making its grand return very soon!
But before we fully dive into coats and crisp air, I’m savoring this mid-season mindset. It’s still summer, but there’s that subtle shift. Cooler mornings here and there, richer tones catching my eye, and the urge to start layering (even if it’s just a sweater draped over the shoulders).
Now is the perfect time to plan ahead. Pre-fall pieces are landing in stores, and the best staples always go quickly. Whether you're still deep in heatwaves or feeling the early signs of change, these transitional layers from Quince are perfect for easing into the season. Even better, all three blend effortlessly into my existing wardrobe, which means I’ll be restyling them well into fall and winter!
The Looks
Look One – Mongolian Cashmere Structured Cardigan
Color: Ivory | Wearing size S | Shop the Look
This one’s a layering dream. I’ve thrown it over tank tops, buttoned it up with jeans, and even tied it around my shoulders just to add a little texture to a simple outfit. The cashmere makes it soft and light, but still warm enough for breezy evenings. It’s become that piece I always keep nearby "just in case."
Look Two – Mongolian Cashmere Oversized Crewneck Sweater
Color: Brown | Wearing size S | Shop the Look
This chocolate brown is giving all the early fall energy and I’m obsessed. It adds richness to a neutral outfit without feeling too heavy. The fit is clean, the knit is buttery soft, and it layers beautifully under coats or over collared shirts. I styled it with jeans and a structured bag here, but I’ll be wearing it with skirts, trousers, you name it.
Look Three – 100% Organic Cotton Knit Blazer
Color: Café au Lait | Wearing size S | Shop the Look
If fall had a uniform, this might be it. A sweater-blazer is one of my favorite pieces for this time of year. It makes everything look more put together without trying too hard. I actually purchased this piece in black last year and wore it constantly, so I was excited to add this warm café au lait tone to my wardrobe. It’s breathable enough for now, but structured enough to transition into cooler months. Perfect for those "I want to look chic but be comfy" days.
Mid-Season Styling Tips
This time of year is all about balance. It’s not about rushing into full-on fall, but gently shifting your mood and materials. Here are a few styling ideas to help ease into the season without overhauling your wardrobe:
Drape a sweater over your shoulders. Even if it’s too warm to wear, it instantly adds polish and dimension to a look and helps set a fall-ready tone.
Stick to light neutrals in fall textures like ribbed knits, cashmere, and soft tailoring. Tones like ivory, camel, and café au lait bring warmth while still feeling fresh.
Play with proportions and structure. Try pairing something soft with something tailored. A cardigan with relaxed trousers or a knit blazer over a fitted tee keeps things balanced.
Update your footwear with ballet flats, loafers, or ankle boots. These subtle swaps make your summer outfits feel seasonal without a full wardrobe change.
Keep your white jeans in rotation. They’re surprisingly versatile for fall, especially when styled with deeper tones like brown, olive, or navy.
Incorporate texture intentionally. Woven bags, suede accessories, soft knits, or a touch of print like a leopard flat or a plaid scarf can shift your outfit into autumn without adding bulk.
Let accessories lead the way. A tortoiseshell clip, a structured tote, gold jewelry, or even a darker lip color can refresh a look in seconds.
This is the season to experiment gently, revisit old favorites, add warmth to your palette, and find new ways to style what you already love. It’s also a great time to notice any wardrobe gaps for the season ahead and fill them before the best pieces sell out!
Final Thoughts
There’s no need to overhaul your wardrobe just yet! Adding in a few intentional layers, especially in beautiful fabrics like Mongolian cashmere or organic cotton, makes a world of difference. These pieces from Quince are already staples in my closet and they blend in effortlessly with what I already own, the kind of pieces that make getting dressed feel both fresh and familiar.
