Discovering the Monceau Baguette Bag by Ateliers Auguste
Some pieces feel like more than just an accessory. They carry a certain atmosphere with them, a quiet reminder of places, moments, and the kind of elegance that feels natural and timeless. For me, that feeling is often tied to Paris. The rhythm of the city, the architecture, the understated way people dress as they move from café to gallery to dinner without changing their outfit.
I’ve been following the French brand Ateliers Auguste for quite some time, admiring their clean silhouettes and architectural approach to leather goods. When the Monceau Baguette was introduced as part of their Monceau collection, it immediately caught my attention. The clean lines, the architectural inspiration, and the thoughtful proportions all reflect that same Parisian philosophy of simplicity and intention.
The Monceau Baguette in Chocolate Box leather feels like a small piece of that world to carry with you, a thoughtfully designed bag inspired by the quiet elegance of Paris. Structured yet understated, polished yet practical, it’s the kind of bag that quietly elevates everyday outfits while still feeling effortless.
In this post, I’m taking a closer look at the Monceau Baguette, the story behind Ateliers Auguste, and why this design feels like such a natural addition to my wardrobe.
About Ateliers Auguste
Founded in Paris in 2018, Ateliers Auguste was created by two brothers who share a passion for design and architecture.
That influence is visible throughout the brand’s collections. Rather than focusing on trends, their designs draw inspiration from some of the great figures of modern architecture, including Le Corbusier, Jean Prouvé, Charles and Ray Eames, and Frank Lloyd Wright. The result is a design philosophy rooted in balance, proportion, and simplicity.
Each bag is designed in Paris and handcrafted in Italy by skilled artisans using premium leathers sourced from renowned Italian tanneries. From the careful selection of materials to the finishing details, the focus remains on craftsmanship, durability, and thoughtful design.
The brand has also embraced a direct-to-consumer model from the beginning, allowing them to maintain a close relationship with their clients while offering beautifully made leather goods at a more accessible price point than many traditional luxury houses.
Today, Ateliers Auguste delivers its collections to customers in more than 80 countries, while maintaining the minimalist aesthetic and architectural inspiration that define the brand.
About the Monceau Baguette
The Monceau Baguette in Chocolate Box Leather is one of Ateliers Auguste’s newest arrivals, designed as a refined everyday bag that balances structure, practicality, and understated elegance.
Its rectangular silhouette gives it a distinctly architectural feel, while the clean flap closure keeps the design minimal and balanced. The adjustable leather strap allows it to be worn either on the shoulder or crossbody, making it easy to adapt throughout the day.
The version featured here is the Monceau Baguette Gold Edition in Chocolate Box Leather.
This edition introduces a beautiful vintage-inspired gold clasp created exclusively for Ateliers Auguste. The vertical ribbed detailing adds a subtle design element that feels both modern and timeless.
The chocolate brown calf leather also adds depth to the bag’s silhouette. Slightly textured yet smooth, it gives the bag richness while remaining durable enough for everyday wear.
Altogether, the Monceau Baguette feels thoughtfully proportioned, elegant, and designed with daily life in mind.
My Notes
Ateliers Auguste is a French brand I had heard so many wonderful things about, especially when it comes to the quality of their leather goods, so I was very curious to finally experience one of their bags in person. I have to say, it truly does not disappoint.
The leather is beautiful, rich, and sturdy, the kind of quality that immediately feels designed to last for years rather than just a season. It’s the kind of craftsmanship that gives a bag structure while still feeling elegant and refined.
A few details I especially love about the Monceau Baguette:
Versatile styling: It can be worn as a shoulder bag, crossbody, or carried as a clutch by tucking the strap inside, which makes it easy to transition from day to night. It feels like having three bags in one!
Spacious interior: Despite its sleek silhouette, I was pleasantly surprised by how much it holds. I was able to fit all of my everyday essentials comfortably.
Beautiful structure: The bag holds its shape incredibly well, which gives it that polished, architectural feel while still being practical for everyday use.
Hardware options: I also love that many of their bags are available with either gold or silver hardware, which makes it easier to choose the version that best fits your personal style.
I’ve also completely fallen in love with this chocolate brown color. It’s one of those shades that functions almost like a neutral, incredibly versatile and easy to style throughout the year.
In the warmer months, I can already imagine pairing it with white linens, light denim, and soft blues. Then as we move into fall and winter, it will work beautifully alongside darker browns, suede textures, and richer seasonal tones.
It’s the type of piece that adapts naturally across seasons and occasions, which is always a sign of a well-designed wardrobe staple.

Everyday Parisian Style
One thing I’ve always appreciated about Parisian style is how seamlessly accessories fit into everyday life.
Rather than constantly rotating through fast-fashion bags that aren’t designed to last, many tend to gravitate toward well-made pieces that accompany them throughout the day. A bag that works just as easily for a morning coffee, an afternoon appointment, or dinner later in the evening.
It’s a philosophy rooted in practicality and intention. When a piece is thoughtfully designed and easy to style, it naturally becomes part of your daily rhythm rather than something reserved for special occasions.
That mindset becomes especially clear when walking through neighborhoods like the Marais or Saint-Germain, where small boutiques and independent designers sit alongside historic maisons. Experiencing these spaces in person gives you a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and design behind many of the pieces we wear every day.
If you’re planning a trip to Paris, the Ateliers Auguste boutique in the Marais is definitely one I would recommend adding to your list. Located just steps from the iconic Place des Vosges, it’s a beautiful place to see their bags in person and experience the brand up close. Le Marais is also one of my favorite neighborhoods to shop in Paris, full of charming streets and hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
I’ve included the boutique in my Paris Shopping Map, where I share some of my favorite fashion, accessory, and lifestyle spots across the city. I’ve also added a handbag-focused version below highlighting some of my favorite leather goods brands, both include Ateliers Auguste if you’re planning a visit.
Final Thoughts
Learning more about Ateliers Auguste and experiencing the Monceau Baguette in person has only deepened my appreciation for the brand’s design philosophy. There’s a quiet confidence in pieces like this. The kind that comes from thoughtful proportions, beautiful materials, and a focus on creating objects that are meant to be used and enjoyed for years.
The Monceau Baguette feels like one of those bags that naturally integrates into my everyday life, structured enough to elevate simple outfits, yet practical enough to carry from morning errands to dinner later in the evening.
And in many ways, that balance reflects the same philosophy behind Parisian style itself, choosing pieces carefully, wearing them often, and appreciating how good design quietly becomes part of your daily rhythm.
On my next trip to Paris, I already know I’ll be stopping by the Ateliers Auguste boutique, as there are several other designs from the brand I’d love to see in person!
