Recent Spring Outfits & Capsule Wardrobe Favorites

Based on the What to Pack for Paris in Spring capsule I shared recently, I wanted to show how that same idea naturally shows up in my own wardrobe.

These are pieces I personally own and love, the ones I find myself reaching for again and again because they make getting dressed feel simple and consistent.

I’ve always been drawn to classic combinations that feel effortless but still put together. Pieces that work quietly in the background, easy to style, easy to wear, and that continue to feel relevant over time.

Some of these are newer additions, others I’ve had for years, but they all share that same sense of ease and timelessness that I look for when building a wardrobe.

Recent Spring Outfits

These are a few outfits I’ve been wearing lately, simple looks built around pieces I know I can rely on. Outfits that move easily throughout the day, from casual plans to slightly more dressed moments, without needing much adjustment.

As the seasons shift, I tend to keep the same foundations and simply lighten the styling, softer layers, familiar silhouettes, and combinations that always feel natural to come back to.

The knit dress I’ve been wearing everywhere

Shop the Look

This black long sleeve dress from Marcella (size S) has been one of my favorite pieces recently.

I’m obsessed with the neckline and the fit, it’s one of those silhouettes that instantly feels flattering without needing much else. If you know me, you know I love a good knit dress, and this one really checks every box.

I’ve already worn it a few different ways over the past couple of weeks, dressed up for dinners, thrown on during the day with minimal styling, and it always feels right.

It’s one of those pieces I don’t have to think about, which is usually how I know it’s going to stay in my wardrobe.

The basket bag I’ve been pairing it with is from an older Mango collection, I’ve linked a few similar options if you’re looking for something in that same style.

A polka dot moment that always comes back in spring

Shop the Look

This black and white polka dot dress is from Target, oui!

I picked it up a couple of years ago, and it’s one of those pieces I’ve kept because it just works every time spring comes around.

There’s something about polka dots that always feels right this time of year, feminine, a little playful, but still classic.

It also has that very Rouje-inspired feel, which I always gravitate toward. Easy silhouettes, subtle detail, nothing too complicated but still special enough to stand on its own.

It’s also one of those dresses I didn’t expect to keep for this long, but it comes back every spring and still feels just as right.

If you’re thinking about adding polka dots into your wardrobe this season, I’ve linked a few similar options. It’s one of those patterns that brings just enough interest without taking away from the simplicity of an outfit.

The sandals that have quietly made their way into everything

I recently partnered with TKEES, and I’ve genuinely been wearing them all the time. Got them in my usual size 7.

I had been looking for a pair of black minimal sandals that felt a little more elevated for everyday outfits. Something minimal, easy, but still refined enough to work with more structured pieces.

These have been exactly that!

I didn’t think I would reach for them this much, but they’ve become one of those pieces I just grab without thinking.

They’ve naturally made their way into so many of my outfits lately. With denim, with trousers, with dresses, they just work. They add that slightly more relaxed feel that makes an outfit look effortless, without losing that polished edge.

They’ve been one of those small additions that ended up changing how I style a lot of my everyday outfits.

My Capsule Go-To’s

When I look at these outfits, they all come back to the same foundation, a few pieces that naturally work well together and make getting dressed feel simple. Over time, I’ve found myself returning to the same shapes and combinations, pieces that feel familiar, easy to style, and always feel right to wear. They’re the kind of staples that quietly become part of your everyday wardrobe, the ones you reach for without having to think too much about it.

The clean-cut tees that hold everything together

Shop the Look

The clean-cut tees from COS are still some of the best basics I own, both the black and white versions.

I’ve tried so many tees over the years, and these are some of the few that actually hold their structure. The neckline stays in place, the fabric feels substantial, and they don’t lose their shape after a few washes.

They’re simple, but they make such a difference in how an outfit comes together. Whether it’s styled with denim, trousers, or layered under a jacket, they always feel intentional.

I’ve definitely paid more for tees that didn’t last, so for me, these are worth it!

The trousers I build outfits around

The Effortless Pant from Aritzia is still the pair I reach for the most.

I own them in both the linen and crepette versions, which has made them even more of a staple for me depending on the season and the look I’m going for.

They’re comfortable, easy to style, and instantly make an outfit feel a little more elevated. Even when the rest of the outfit is simple, these bring a sense of structure that pulls everything together.

It’s one of those pieces that quietly does a lot in a wardrobe, which is usually a sign that it’s worth having.

I’m also planning to pick up the Aritzia Lodge Pants in linen for this summer, I love the idea of having something just as easy but slightly more relaxed for warmer days. They have that same effortless feel, comfortable, refined, and easy to wear throughout the day.

The white button-down that never leaves my rotation

Shop the Look

Every capsule wardrobe needs a good white button-down.

I’ve had my Sézane Tomboy shirt for years, and it’s still one of the pieces I come back to the most. It’s relaxed, easy, and always feels right no matter how I style it.

I also recently tried a blue shirt from Uniqlo’s collaboration with Jonathan Anderson, and I’m planning to pick it up in white as well.

It’s slightly cropped, which feels perfect for warmer days, and makes it a little easier to style with high-waisted pieces. And honestly, you can’t beat that price, especially for something that feels that considered.

A simple layer that completes the look

This structured jacket from Quince has been that for me lately. It adds just enough structure to make everything feel finished, without making the outfit feel heavy.

It’s the kind of piece that works across everything, which is usually what I look for when adding something into my wardrobe.

It was actually part of their collaboration with celebrity stylist Erin Walsh, which I loved when I first saw it. I shared more about that collection in a separate article if you’d like to explore it further.

The trench coat that defines spring dressing

Shop the Look

One piece that always finds its way back into my wardrobe this time of year is a trench coat.

It’s one of those staples that instantly gives an outfit that slightly more polished, French-inspired feel, even when everything else is kept very simple.

If you’re looking to explore more trench coat options, I’ve shared a full edit featuring French brands and other styles I’ve been loving recently.

The one I’m wearing here is from Mango from a few years ago, I’ve linked similar options if you’re looking for something in that same style.

What I love about a trench is how it pulls everything together without trying too hard. Thrown over denim and a tee, layered with trousers, or even styled over a dress, it always feels right.

It’s one of those pieces that doesn’t just complete an outfit, it subtly defines it.

A Few Notes on Building a Capsule

Shop the Details

Looking at these outfits, I always come back to the same idea.

A strong capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to be complicated, it’s usually built around a few pieces that naturally work together, and that you actually enjoy wearing day to day.

For me, that often looks like:

  • simple, well-cut basics

  • a balance between structure and ease

  • pieces that can move between different moments without needing to be restyled

It’s less about having more, and more about having the right pieces.

The ones you come back to without thinking, and the ones that end up defining your wardrobe without you even realizing it.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking to build a foundation for a capsule wardrobe, these are some of my favorites!

The pieces I’ve kept in my wardrobe over the years, that I’ve worn in different ways depending on the season, and that always seem to come back into my rotation without me even realizing it.

I think that’s usually the biggest sign, when you stop questioning whether something works, and just keep wearing it.

There’s something about having those go-to’s that makes getting dressed feel easier. Not having to think too much about it, just knowing things will come together in a way that feels natural.

Of course, it’s always about making it your own. Adding your colors, your accessories, and those small personal details that make an outfit feel like you!
