15 Chic Work & Tote Bags From European Brands to Carry Into Fall
There’s something about the end of summer that always has me excited to start dressing for fall again. The return of trench coats, trousers, loafers, deeper colors, and, of course, a really beautiful bag to pull everything together.
With back-to-school and back-to-work season on our minds, I’ve been keeping an eye on the new Fall 2026 arrivals, and there are already so many beautiful bags catching my attention. Rich chocolate browns, suede, burgundy, oversized leather totes, and softer, more relaxed silhouettes all feel particularly good heading into the new season.
For this edit, I wanted to turn my attention specifically to European handbag brands, bringing together 15 work-friendly totes from France, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, and beyond. Some are new arrivals for Fall 2026, others are bestselling styles I’ve had my eye on for quite some time, and several come from brands I personally own and love.
If you’ve been here for a while, you know I’m always looking for that balance between something beautiful and something you can actually use, especially when it comes to a work bag. I don’t necessarily want a bag that looks like a laptop bag. I want something I’d be excited to style with a trench coat and trousers, carry to a meeting or a café, and still reach for on a day when work isn’t involved at all.
That’s really what guided this edit. Beautiful European craftsmanship and design, but in bags that can actually fit into everyday life. From Parisian leather houses to Scandinavian minimalism and Spanish craftsmanship, there’s such a beautiful range of approaches to the everyday tote across Europe. For Fall 2026, I was especially drawn to richer textures, deeper colors, softer shapes, and new interpretations of timeless silhouettes.

Founded in 1898, the French leather goods house has become one of my personal favorites for timeless design, beautiful leather, and the kind of quality you immediately notice when you see the bags in person. I now own two Le Tanneur bags myself, and they continue to be some of my favorite pieces in my collection.
I recently had the chance to visit Le Tanneur in Paris, and while chatting with the team, they mentioned that the Emie collection has become one of their bestsellers and a favorite among Parisians for the office. After seeing it in person, I can understand why. It has that beautiful balance of being polished enough for work while still feeling like a handbag you’d want to carry and style outside of the office.
For Fall 2026, Le Tanneur has introduced new colors for the Emie Maxi Shoulder Bag, giving one of the brand’s classic silhouettes a fresh update for the season. I especially love its relaxed shape paired with the signature belted details, which give it just enough structure while still feeling effortless. It’s exactly the kind of bag I can picture with a trench coat, trousers, and loafers heading into fall.

2. Liffner
Bag Featured: Belted Tote - $795
Liffner has been on my wishlist for a while now. The Stockholm-based brand was founded in 2012 by Paulina Liffner von Sydow and has this beautiful Scandinavian approach to design that feels minimal without being too simple. The bags are handcrafted in small batches at a family-run atelier outside Florence, bringing together Scandinavian design with traditional Italian craftsmanship.
I’ve loved the look of their bestselling Belted Bucket Bag for some time, so naturally their brand-new Belted Tote immediately caught my attention. It takes that signature belted detail and translates it into a larger, relaxed tote that feels so chic for fall. I especially love the croc-effect and suede versions, which add a little more texture and interest while still feeling incredibly timeless.
The new Belted Tote is currently available for preorder, and something tells me this could become one of the it bags of the season. It has that same understated quality that made me love the Belted Bucket Bag in the first place, but in a silhouette that feels particularly good right now: oversized, relaxed, and easy to style.
Another reason I continue to be drawn to Liffner is the brand’s focus on longevity. They work with natural leathers and by-product hides from LWG-certified tanneries, with an emphasis on creating pieces designed to age beautifully and be carried for years rather than a single season.
And while we’re talking about Liffner, I also love their Pushlock Clutch. It’s a completely different silhouette, but another beautiful example of the brand’s understated design. 3. DeMellier
Bag Featured: The New York Tote - $730
DeMellier has been on my radar for quite some time, and their bestselling New York Tote has been very high on my personal wishlist. The London-based brand was founded by Mireia Llusia-Lindh with the idea of creating beautiful, modern handbags without compromising on craftsmanship or how they’re made. Their bags are crafted in Europe using sustainably sourced materials, and with every bag sold, the brand funds vaccines and medical treatments for children in need.
The New York Tote is one of those bags I continue to come back to. I love its soft, folded silhouette and the way the belted detailing gives such a relaxed shape a little more structure. It feels understated and elegant, but still has enough personality to make it much more interesting than a traditional everyday tote.
I especially love the suede versions heading into fall. The combination of the softer shape and rich texture feels so beautiful for the season, and I can easily picture it styled with a trench coat, tailored trousers, an oversized blazer, or a beautiful knit.
It has that effortless quality that makes it feel just as suited to everyday life as it does to work. If you prefer something a little more structured, I also love The Hudson. Its cleaner, more architectural silhouette and subtle hardware make it a beautiful alternative to the softer New York Tote, while still having that polished, understated quality DeMellier does so well.

4. Polène
Bag Featured: Cyme - $620
A timeless classic and probably one of the most recognizable totes from Parisian brand Polène, the Cyme absolutely had to make this edit. Its sculptural shape and beautiful curved lines make it feel much more interesting than your traditional work tote, while still being incredibly easy to style.
I personally own the Cyme Mini, which I purchased during my recent trip to Paris. I had the chance to see both sizes in person and ultimately went with the Mini because it felt more suited to my personal style and what I realistically carry day to day. It’s a great size for everyday office essentials and may work for some smaller laptops, while the larger Cyme gives you considerably more room if you tend to carry more with you. As always, I recommend comparing your laptop measurements with the bag dimensions before purchasing.
I absolutely love mine and already know it’s going to be a bag I reach for even more as we head into fall. The shape looks so beautiful with knits, trench coats, and relaxed tailoring, and I love that you can change the silhouette depending on how you arrange the sides of the bag.

5. Aesther Ekme
Bag Featured: Sac Tote Bag - $850
If you’re looking for something a little different from the wider, more traditional tote silhouette, I love the sleek vertical shape of the Sac from Aesther Ekme. It feels incredibly minimal and understated, but the proportions and sculptural shape give it just enough presence to make it interesting. It also fits 13" and 14" laptops, making it a beautiful option for work without looking like a traditional laptop bag.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2016 by Stephane Park, Aesther Ekme takes a quieter approach to luxury. The designs are influenced by Brazilian Brutalist architecture and Scandinavian minimalism, with a focus on shape, proportion, and how a bag sits against the body rather than logos or recognizable hardware. It’s very much a brand where the design speaks for itself, which I love.
The Sac captures that perfectly. The clean vertical silhouette feels polished but still relaxed, and I especially love it in the deeper brown and suede finishes heading into fall.
It’s one of those simple bags that I can see working beautifully with an oversized blazer, trousers, a long coat, or a knit as the weather starts to cool down.

6. Strathberry
Bag Featured: Mosaic Cabas - $745
Strathberry’s new arrivals are so good right now, and the new Mosaic Cabas immediately caught my attention. An evolution of the brand’s signature Mosaic family, it takes those recognizable clean, architectural lines and translates them into a larger tote silhouette that feels perfect for everyday wear. I love that it still feels distinctly Strathberry, but a little more relaxed and effortless for work and day-to-day styling.
Founded in Edinburgh in 2013 by husband-and-wife team Guy and Leeanne Hundleby, Strathberry is designed in Scotland and handcrafted in Spain. The brand has always had such a beautiful balance between classic craftsmanship and modern design, with elegant silhouettes, minimal branding, and subtle details that make the bags recognizable without feeling overly logo-driven. The Mosaic Cabas is exactly the kind of work tote I love for this edit because it doesn’t immediately read as a work bag.
It feels like a beautiful handbag first, something I could easily see styled with trousers and a blazer for the office, then just as naturally with denim and a knit on the weekend. The structured shape gives it that polished feel, while the wider proportions keep it from looking too formal.
And speaking of new arrivals, Strathberry also just introduced the Sway, another new style I’m loving from the collection. Their Fall 2026 arrivals feel especially strong this season, so this is definitely a brand I’d keep an eye on as we head into fall.

Bag Featured: Medium Oak - $945
Fleuron has long been one of my favorite French handbag brands. Their approach to Parisian leather goods is rooted in simplicity and longevity, with clean, refined silhouettes designed to live in your wardrobe well beyond a single season. Each piece begins in Paris before being handcrafted in Italy by leather artisans, using leathers sourced from renowned Italian and Spanish tanneries.
I personally own the Mini Swann, and it has become one of my favorite smaller handbags in my collection. I love the sculptural shape, beautiful leather, and subtle details that make it recognizable without feeling overly branded. I also recently had the chance to visit Fleuron’s Paris flagship, where I was able to explore much more of the collection in person. While I was there, the team mentioned the Oak as one of their favorite options for work, and it was one of the bags that stood out to me as well.
There’s something about the Oak that feels very Fleuron. It’s simple at first glance, but the proportions and softer structure make it feel incredibly elegant. I love that it has the presence of a beautiful everyday handbag rather than something designed exclusively for the office. It’s easy to imagine styled with a trench and trousers during the week, then just as naturally with denim or a knit on the weekend.

Bag Featured: Sévigné Tote - $745
Ateliers Auguste is one of my favorite French handbag brands, and their new Sévigné Tote immediately stood out to me for this edit. I actually had the chance to see this bag in person while visiting their Paris boutique, and the suede is absolutely stunning. I especially love the Chocolate Suede, which feels like such a beautiful choice heading into fall.
Founded in Paris in 2018 by two brothers with a shared passion for design and architecture, Ateliers Auguste creates minimalist leather goods inspired by the idea that less is more. Their designs draw influence from some of the great names in modern architecture and design, including Le Corbusier, Jean Prouvé, Charles and Ray Eames, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Each bag is designed in Paris and handcrafted in Italy using leather sourced from Italian tanneries, with a focus on clean lines, beautiful proportions, and functionality.
The new versions of the Sévigné Tote captures so much of what I love about the brand. It has that understated, architectural quality Ateliers Auguste does so well, but in a larger everyday silhouette that feels particularly suited to work. It can accommodate a 13-inch laptop along with your everyday essentials, while still looking like a beautiful handbag rather than a traditional laptop bag.
I personally own two Ateliers Auguste bags, the Mini Marly and the Monceau Baguette, and they are genuinely some of my favorite handbags in my collection. The quality is exceptional, and after owning their pieces and having the opportunity to explore more of the collection in Paris, Ateliers Auguste has become a brand I continue to come back to.
I can already picture the Sévigné styled with a trench coat, tailored trousers, denim, and fall knits. The combination of its structured shape and softer finish gives it that polished but effortless quality I’m always looking for in an everyday bag.

9. RSVP Paris
Bag Featured: Parachute Medium - $655
Founded in Paris in 2015, RSVP Paris is a French leather goods house centered around modern craftsmanship and understated Parisian design. Inspired by the French art de vivre, the name stands for Répondez S’il Vous Plaît, with each collection produced in limited editions of just 500 pieces. I love that there’s a sense of discovery behind the brand, with designs that feel distinctive while still remaining incredibly refined.
I recently added the Munchkin to my own handbag collection, and I’m already excited to share more about it soon. It’s my first RSVP Paris bag, and I love the attention to detail and the brand’s approach to classic leather goods.
For this edit, though, it’s the Parachute Medium that caught my attention. I love the softness and more relaxed feel of the silhouette, especially alongside some of the more structured bags in this edit. The shape is balanced by generous leather panels that give it an almost architectural quality, so while it feels easy and relaxed, it still has that polished look I want from an everyday tote.
It’s another bag I could easily picture styled beyond work. With a trench coat and trousers it feels polished enough for a meeting, but with denim, a knit, or an oversized coat, it becomes a beautiful everyday bag. That versatility is exactly what I’ve been looking for throughout this edit.

10. ATP Atelier
Bag Featured: Eraclea Tote - $820
ATP Atelier is a Swedish-Italian brand born from the friendship of founders Maj-La Pizzelli and Jonas Clason and their shared love of Italy. The brand describes itself as a meeting point between Italian and Swedish lifestyles, combining Scandinavian simplicity with a deep appreciation for Italian leather and craftsmanship. While ATP Atelier may be especially known for its shoes, their handbag collection is absolutely worth exploring too.
The Eraclea Tote is one of the styles that caught my attention. It's a classic, generously sized tote, but the subtle details keep it from feeling too simple. I especially love the Chocolate Suede for fall. It has that rich, warm look I've been gravitating toward lately and would be so beautiful paired with tailoring, denim, knits, or a trench.
For something a little different, the Printed Cerbiatto version is such a fun alternative. The print gives the otherwise timeless silhouette more personality and makes it feel almost like the statement piece of an outfit. I love seeing a classic work tote interpreted in a way that feels a little less expected.
ATP Atelier also has several other handbags worth discovering. The Montalcino is another style I've been loving and a good example of the brand's ability to make very simple silhouettes feel considered and distinctive.

11. nat & nin
Bag Featured: Pablo - $337
nat & nin is a French leather goods brand founded by sisters Nathalie and Ninny, who grew up surrounded by leather craftsmanship in their parents’ workshop along the Canal Saint-Martin in Paris. After their family moved to France from China in the 1980s, Paris became home, and the sisters eventually turned the craft they had grown up around into their own brand. More than 20 years later, nat & nin remains an independent, family-led company with a focus on creating timeless, accessible leather goods designed for everyday life.
nat & nin is actually a brand I’ve become increasingly interested in exploring thanks to the Maéva community. I’ve had several readers share how much they love the quality of their bags, so naturally I’ve been keeping a closer eye on the collection myself.
For this edit, the Pablo immediately stood out. The suede, relaxed shape feels so good heading into fall, but what really caught my attention is just how practical it is.
Despite its simple, easy silhouette, it can comfortably accommodate up to a 17-inch laptop, making it one of the roomiest work-friendly options in this edit.
I also love that it doesn't immediately look like a work bag. The soft suede and pared-back shape make it something I could just as easily picture with a trench coat, trousers, denim, or a knit on the weekend. And at $337, it also brings a more accessible price point into the edit without losing that beautiful leather construction.

Bag Featured: Manhattan - $690
Founded in 2019 by María Alfonso, Paris/64 is a Spanish brand centered around timeless design and traditional craftsmanship. Each of the brand’s leather goods is handcrafted in Spain, with Paris/64 overseeing the process from the initial sketches and selection of materials through to assembly and finishing. The result is a collection that feels classic and refined, while still very much designed for everyday life.
For this edit, I wanted to include the Manhattan, one of the brand’s signature shopper styles. Inspired by the energy of New York City, it has a beautifully simple silhouette made from soft cowhide leather, finished with the brand’s polished gold-tone buckle. I love that the leather gives it a slightly relaxed feel, while the hardware and elongated shape keep it looking refined.
I especially love the Cuero and Burdeos colorways heading into fall. The Cuero has that warm, classic quality that would look beautiful with a trench coat and denim, while the Burdeos adds a richer pop of color without being difficult to style. Both feel like colors you could bring out year after year.
The Manhattan is also a nice option in this edit for days when you don’t necessarily need to carry everything with you. It has plenty of room for everyday essentials while still feeling more like a beautiful handbag than a traditional work tote. And if you prefer something larger, Paris/64 also offers the Manhattan XL, an oversized take on the same signature silhouette.

Founded in Paris in 2013 by a Parisian couple, Léo et Violette creates timeless leather goods centered around minimalist design, functionality, and craftsmanship. Each piece is designed in the brand’s Paris studio, with a focus on proportion, clean lines, and thoughtful details rather than logos or monograms. The bags are then handcrafted in Italy in specialized leather workshops between Milan and Naples.
For this edit, I love the Le Duo Shopper. The semi-structured silhouette feels like such a beautiful middle ground between some of the softer totes in this edit and the more traditional structured work bag. It has clean, minimal lines, but the wider proportions and subtle gold DuoLock closure give it just enough character.
It’s also a particularly practical option for work, with room for A4 documents and a 13-inch laptop, plus a central magnetic pocket to keep smaller essentials organized. I love that you get that functionality without the bag immediately reading as a laptop or work bag.
The grained calf leather is sourced from an LWG-certified Italian tannery, and the bag is fully lined and handmade in Italy. I could easily see this styled with trousers and a blazer for meetings, then just as naturally with denim, a trench, or a knit outside of work.

Founded in Copenhagen in 2021 by twin sisters Amalie and Cecilie Moosgaard, LIÉ STUDIO is built around the idea of creating timeless accessories that can become part of an everyday uniform. The brand originally launched with jewelry before expanding into leather goods and eyewear, with the same focus on clean design, versatility, and pieces that can be worn season after season.
I’ve personally followed Amalie and Cecilie for their style for some time now. They’re both major style inspirations for me, and I love their minimalist, chic approach to dressing. There’s an effortlessness to the way they put together very simple pieces that feels incredibly refined, and I definitely recommend following along with them on social media if you’re looking for everyday styling inspiration. That same point of view translates beautifully into LIÉ STUDIO. I already love the brand’s jewelry, and their growing handbag collection has definitely been catching my attention too.
The designs feel clean and considered, but still very wearable, which makes so much sense when you look at the way the sisters themselves approach getting dressed.
