Inside Fauvette Paris: Boutique Passage Doré, Favorite Handbags & the Parisian Atelier
During my recent time in Paris, one visit I had been especially looking forward to was Fauvette.
I had the pleasure of getting to know Fauvette’s founder, Claire Rischette, before my trip, so finally being able to meet her in person and step inside the world she has created around the brand felt incredibly special.
Fauvette is based at Passage Doré, the charming Parisian boutique Claire opened with jewelry designer Louise Damas in the 10th arrondissement. It is also where Claire runs Fauvette and works from her atelier, bringing so many sides of her creative world together under one roof.
Claire welcomed me into her atelier, showed me more about the way she works and talked me through some of the thoughtful details behind her designs. I had admired Fauvette from afar and I own one of her bags myself, so being able to experience the brand in such a personal way gave me an entirely new appreciation for what she has created.

A Closer Look at Fauvette Paris
Founded by Claire Rischette in 2013, Fauvette is an independent French leather goods brand built around craftsmanship, beautiful materials and a very personal approach to design.
One of the things I find especially lovely about Fauvette is how involved Claire remains in the creative process. She designs each piece herself and develops her prototypes from her atelier in Paris before the handbags, belts and small leather goods are handcrafted in France in small quantities.
The leathers are sourced exclusively from European tanneries in France, Italy and Spain, with everything from classic smooth and grained leather to suede and beautifully embossed finishes appearing throughout the collections.
I also loved learning more about the details that make Fauvette’s bags so distinctive.
Many of the clasps feel almost like pieces of jewelry in their own right. They are designed by Claire and created with one of the last remaining French buckle makers before being gilded with 24K gold in Paris. The same French maker also produces Fauvette’s raw brass belt buckles.
There is something particularly special about knowing that the person behind a brand remains so closely connected to the pieces that carry its name, from the first design to the beautiful details that bring each one to life.

Stepping into Passage Doré feels a little like entering a cozy Parisian sanctuary.
The boutique feels like such a natural extension of Claire and the world she has created around Fauvette. Flowers are everywhere, which felt particularly fitting once Claire told me how much joy they bring her. They sit alongside beautiful objects, jewelry, accessories and decorative finds, giving the entire space such a warm and personal feeling.
It feels like stepping into Claire’s world.
The team was absolutely wonderful, and it was so lovely to see how many people had traveled from near and far to visit. While I was there, people came in to meet Claire, discover Fauvette and even stop for a few photos with her. Seeing that connection between Claire and the people who love her work was one of those little moments that made the afternoon particularly memorable.
I also loved being able to step into the atelier.
Claire showed me where she works and shared some of the final details she still enjoys adding to her pieces herself, including work on the belts. Seeing the finished handbags only a few steps away from the atelier where her ideas are developed made the experience feel incredibly personal.

And then there are all the little things in between.
Beautiful decorative pieces, accessories, flowers and objects that immediately had me thinking about how much room I had left in my suitcase.

Personally, I already know I’m bringing a bigger suitcase next time!
Discovering New Fauvette Favorites
Naturally, I also spent plenty of time admiring the handbags!
Seeing an entire collection together in person is always one of my favorite parts of visiting a brand. Being able to feel the leathers, see all of the beautiful colors together and try the different silhouettes makes the experience so special, and I loved discovering even more of Fauvette’s designs up close.
One of my favorites was the Rosie in burgundy.
I completely fell in love with the rich color, especially with fall ahead. I was also drawn to one of the beautiful green shades in the collection, which happens to be one of Claire’s personal favorites too.
My own handbag collection naturally centers around timeless shades like black, camel, chocolate brown and soft neutrals, colors I love and know I’ll continue reaching for season after season. Seeing Fauvette’s collection together also reminded me how beautiful a thoughtful pop of color can be.
From deep burgundy and green to blues and soft pinks, there were so many elegant, wearable shades throughout the collection. I could absolutely see a colorful Fauvette piece adding something special to the timeless colors already in my wardrobe.
I also personally own the Adèle in black lizard, which I brought with me during part of my travels in France.
One of my favorite features is the strap. You can switch the Adèle from a shoulder bag to a crossbody in one simple motion, and I found myself using that feature constantly while traveling. I could wear it on my shoulder for a polished look, then easily switch it crossbody while walking around Paris or whenever I wanted my hands free.
It’s such a thoughtful design detail and one that made the bag incredibly practical to travel with.

Final Thoughts
Getting to meet the people behind the brands I discover has become one of my favorite parts of creating Maéva, and this was one of those visits that reminded me exactly why.
I had been looking forward to meeting Claire for quite some time, and spending the afternoon together at Passage Doré made the experience even more meaningful.
Seeing her atelier, learning about the craftsmanship and thoughtful details behind Fauvette, and discovering more of the collection in person gave me a much deeper appreciation for a brand I had already come to love.
There is so much of Claire woven into both Fauvette and Passage Doré, from the handbags she designs to the flowers filling the boutique and the warmth you feel throughout the space.
I left inspired, with a much longer handbag wish list and, unsurprisingly, plans for a bigger suitcase on my next trip to Paris. I feel like I say this every time, but consider this another reminder to leave a little room in your suitcase when packing for Paris. You never quite know what you’ll discover.
More than anything, I left feeling grateful to be able to experience and share French brands in this way, through the people, places and beautiful savoir-faire behind them.
