PARIS/64 is a brand I already know and love personally, and the Mini Lumière has become one of my favorite handbags in my own collection. I love the balance of structure and femininity in the design, and it is one of those bags that feels polished while still feeling incredibly easy to wear.

Founded in 2019 by María Alfonso, PARIS/64 creates its handbags and accessories in Spain, with a strong focus on craftsmanship, quality materials and responsible production. The brand oversees each step of the process closely, from the initial sketches and material selection to the artisanal assembly, stitching and finishing of each piece.

I have also been loving some of their newest suede styles this season. The Tribeca in suede is especially beautiful, with such a rich, elevated feel for fall and winter, while the classic Lumière silhouettes look just as gorgeous in suede and bring a softer texture to one of the brand’s most recognizable shapes.

Poelle is one of those independent handbag brands that immediately stands out for its attention to form, craftsmanship and artistic influence. Founded in 2021 by Pavlo Popko and Petro Lyshak, the brand has its own atelier in Horodok, near Lviv, Ukraine, where every bag is patterned, cut, stitched and finished by hand.

The name itself brings together Poetry, pelle, the Italian word for leather, and elle, meaning “she”, which feels incredibly fitting for a brand that approaches handbag design almost like an art form. Each collection is inspired by the wider creative world, from Dutch still lifes and the color fields of Rothko and Malevich to the work of Picasso, Matisse and David Lynch.

What I especially love is how sculptural many of the designs feel while still remaining incredibly wearable. The brand offers such a beautiful range of silhouettes, and there are several styles currently catching my eye for fall and winter.

The Cecilie is one of my favorites, with its elegant shape and rich suede finish, while the Object 03 feels a little more directional and modern. Both are beautiful examples of the way Poelle balances artistry with everyday function.

STOW London is another beautiful brand to know if craftsmanship is high on your list when choosing a handbag. Founded in England in 2013 by Carol Lovell, the brand has produced its leather goods in Ubrique, Spain from the very beginning, a town renowned for its long tradition of luxury leather craftsmanship.

What makes STOW especially interesting is how closely connected the brand is to the making of each piece. In 2023, STOW became fully integrated with its longtime manufacturing partner in Ubrique, giving the brand its own in-house production and even greater control over quality, materials and craftsmanship. The collections are also produced in small batches, with an emphasis on thoughtful production and long-term design.

The current suede selection is especially beautiful for fall and winter. I love the Mini Bowling Bag for its compact, softly structured shape, while the East West Curve has such a clean, elongated silhouette that feels incredibly polished. The Mini Curve is another favorite and would be such an easy everyday option if you prefer something smaller.

There is a quiet confidence to the designs that really stands out to me. The silhouettes feel timeless with a modern sensibility, and the brand’s focus on craftsmanship makes STOW especially interesting to explore.

DeMellier is a brand you may already recognize from several of my European handbag edits, and it continues to be one I come back to for polished, timeless silhouettes that still feel very current.

Founded by Mireia Llusia-Lindh, the London-based brand was created around the idea of designing beautifully made handbags with a strong focus on ethical production, responsible materials and giving back. Each piece is crafted in Europe, and for every bag sold, DeMellier helps fund vaccines and treatments for children in need.

Strathberry is another brand you may already recognize from several of my European handbag edits, and it continues to be one of those names I come back to for beautifully structured bags with a very distinct identity.

Founded in Edinburgh in 2013 by husband-and-wife team Guy and Leeanne Hundleby, Strathberry designs its collections in Scotland and handcrafts each piece in Spain. The brand works with skilled artisans in Ubrique, where generations of leather craftsmanship have helped shape the quality and finish behind each design.

One of the details that makes Strathberry especially recognizable is its signature Music Bar hardware, inspired by a vintage leather sheet music folio discovered by the founders. It gives the bags such a clean, polished finish while still feeling modern and understated.

Suede works particularly well across the collection this season. I love the Mosaic for its structured yet easy shape, while the Kite Tote feels like such a chic option if you are looking for something roomier.

The Kite Hobo is another favorite, with a softer silhouette that feels especially well suited to suede and brings a little more movement and texture to an outfit. If you love refined silhouettes with thoughtful details and a strong focus on craftsmanship, Strathberry is definitely one to explore.

Founded in Stockholm in 2012 by Paulina Liffner von Sydow, the brand is rooted in what it describes as expressive minimalism, pairing clean Scandinavian design with Italian craftsmanship and just enough unexpected detail to give each piece its own identity. Every handbag is handcrafted in small batches at a family-run atelier outside Florence, with an emphasis on natural materials, thoughtful construction and pieces designed to be carried for years.

The Belted Tote in suede is one of my personal favorites this season. I love its relaxed shape and subtle belted detail, which gives the bag a little more character while still feeling incredibly timeless. Their bestselling Belted Bucket Bag is also beautiful in suede and feels like such an easy everyday option for fall and winter.

The collections are known for clean silhouettes, rich textures and a very considered sense of proportion, which carries through beautifully into the handbags.

Mulberry is one of the more established luxury names in this edit, and I am completely obsessed with the Small Soft Bayswater this season. I love how it takes one of the brand’s most recognizable silhouettes and gives it a softer, more relaxed feel that works so beautifully in suede.

Founded in England in 1971 by Roger Saul, Mulberry began as a family-run business rooted in leather craftsmanship and a distinctly British mix of countryside heritage and London style. Over the decades, the brand has created some of the most recognizable British handbags, including the Bayswater, which was introduced in the early 2000s and quickly became one of Mulberry’s signature designs.

The Small Soft Bayswater carries the design feel of the iconic Bayswater, reworked in a softer, more relaxed silhouette that feels especially suited to everyday wear. I love the way the suede adds even more warmth and texture to the shape, while details like the tassels, leather handle keeper and subtle Mulberry signature give it a polished finish.

If you love heritage design but want something that feels a little softer and more modern, this is definitely one of the suede bags I would have on my radar this season.

11. NEOUS

NEOUS is another brand I have had on my radar for a while, especially for its more sculptural take on everyday handbags. I have been looking at the East West styles for some time, and I love how distinctive the closures and proportions feel.

Founded in 2017 by Vanissa Antonious, NEOUS creates footwear and handbags that explore the balance between structure and softness, with a strong focus on versatility and everyday function. Each piece is handmade in Italy by independent artisans, with the designs developed closely between the brand and its makers.

That more considered approach really comes through in the handbags. The Phoenix is one of my favorites, with such a clean, modern shape, while the Berenices and Sagitta have a softer, more relaxed feel that I really love.

The suede options are especially beautiful for fall and winter, adding even more depth and softness to silhouettes that already feel very architectural. If you are drawn to modern handbags with a quieter sense of individuality, NEOUS is such a beautiful brand to explore.

You may already recognize Le Tanneur from my French suede handbag edit, but the Maison has since released several new suede styles that were too beautiful not to include here as well!

Le Tanneur is one of my favorite French handbag brands and one I know especially well. I own two of their bags, including the Émilie from the newer collection, and both have become pieces I genuinely love reaching for.

Founded in 1898, Le Tanneur has more than a century of French leatherworking heritage behind it, with a longstanding focus on quality materials, precise craftsmanship and timeless design. The Maison works exclusively with full-grain leather and continues to build its collections around pieces designed to be carried and loved for years.

I have also had the chance to visit the Le Tanneur flagship in Paris, where you can really get a sense of the craftsmanship and history behind the brand.

If you want to learn more, you can find my full store visit here, along with a closer look at the Émilie and how it fits into the brand’s latest collection.

Their suede options this season are especially beautiful. I already love the Émilie in leather, but the new suede version gives the silhouette such a soft, elevated feel for fall and winter. The Émie is another standout for me and is currently available for preorder. The shape is incredibly elegant, and the suede makes it feel even richer and more seasonal.

If you are looking for a French handbag brand with real heritage, beautiful materials and silhouettes that still feel very current, Le Tanneur is absolutely one to have on your radar.

Founded in Amsterdam in 2010, Smaak creates contemporary handbags with a focus on timeless design, craftsmanship and functionality. The brand takes inspiration from its home city, balancing understated Dutch design with a slightly more relaxed, urban feel that makes the bags incredibly easy to incorporate into an everyday wardrobe.

Coccinelle is another Italian handbag brand I have been hearing such wonderful things about, especially from the Maéva community. It also sits at a really interesting price point, making it a great brand to explore if you are looking for beautifully made European handbags that feel a little more accessible.

Founded in 1978 in Sala Baganza, near Parma, Coccinelle has built its identity around leather handbags and accessories designed with women’s everyday lives in mind. The brand places a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, fine Italian leathers and thoughtful details, with collections that balance femininity, functionality and a more contemporary feel.

It is actually one of the brands I am most curious to discover for myself in person. I have heard consistently positive feedback from readers, and the current suede selection only makes me more interested.

The Lidia is one of my favorites right now. I love the soft, relaxed silhouette and the way the suede gives it an even richer feel for fall and winter, the kind of bag I could see working just as easily with denim and knitwear as with a more elevated look.

ATP Atelier is another brand you may already recognize from one of my recent edits. I featured one of their bags in my animal print roundup, and their suede options are just as beautiful.

Founded by close friends Maj-La and Jonas, ATP Atelier was born from a shared love of Italy, Sweden and beautifully made leather goods. The brand blends Italian craftsmanship with Scandinavian design, creating pieces that feel refined, minimal and incredibly easy to wear.

I especially love the way that balance comes through in the handbags. The silhouettes are clean and understated, while the suede adds a little more softness and depth for fall and winter. The Castellare is one of my personal favorites right now and such a beautiful example of the brand’s approach.

ATP Atelier also describes its philosophy as “Smart Luxury,” with a focus on choosing well-made pieces and experiences that are designed to last rather than follow every passing trend.

Orciani is such a beautiful Italian brand to include here, especially if you are drawn to handbags that feel refined but still have a little more softness and character to them.

Founded by Claudio Orciani, the brand began in 1979 after he made his own leather belt and quickly developed into a broader accessories house built around craftsmanship, experimentation and a strong attention to materials. That balance between tradition and innovation still feels central to the brand today, with collections that pair timeless shapes with more contemporary proportions, tactile finishes and unexpected details.

The suede options are especially strong this season. I love the Aura Peach Oro Midi for its soft, sculptural shape, while the Venus Peach Fringe Midi brings a little more movement and personality through the fringe detailing. Both feel very much in line with Orciani’s “Softness Rocks” philosophy, where texture, movement and Italian craftsmanship come together in a really elegant way.

Yuzefi is another brand I have featured across my European handbag edits, and their new suede arrivals are especially beautiful this season.

Founded in London by Naza Yousefi, the brand was created as a more artistic and individual alternative to a more commercial handbag landscape. That point of view really comes through in the designs, which always feel expressive and distinctive while still remaining wearable and refined.

I have always loved Yuzefi for its more sculptural approach to handbags. The shapes feel a little more unexpected, while still remaining incredibly wearable and easy to style. The new suede pieces are especially striking, and the Scallop Tote is one of my favorites. It has such a beautiful shape, and the suede gives it even more softness and dimension for fall and winter.

18. Hereu

Shop the Edit

Hereu is such a beautiful final addition to this edit and another Spanish brand well worth having on your radar, especially if you are drawn to handbags that feel both artisanal and modern.

Founded in 2014, Hereu takes its name from the Catalan word for “heir” and is rooted in a thoughtful reinterpretation of Spanish craftsmanship. The brand’s bags, shoes and small leather goods are crafted in Spain by a network of family-run manufacturers, blending traditional techniques with a more contemporary, Mediterranean approach to design.

I especially love how distinctive the brand feels. There is a softness and ease to the silhouettes, but also a very strong design identity behind them. Their suede options are especially beautiful this season, and I love their iconic tote styles, which feel effortless, understated and incredibly chic for fall and winter.

Hereu is also such a lovely brand to explore if you are looking for something with a little more texture and character while still keeping that refined, minimal feel. Whether you’re looking for a timeless suede tote, a relaxed shoulder bag, a sculptural clutch or something a little more structured, you’ll find all of the handbags featured throughout this edit here and below.

I’ve also added a few additional favorites from other European brands I love, so you can explore even more suede handbags for fall and winter in one place:

And because there are far too many beautiful suede bags to stop here, I’ve also rounded up a few favorites from global brands. I own two suede bags from the Australian brand Vestirsi and absolutely love them, so you’ll find a few of their styles included too:

Caring for Suede Handbags

Suede is such a beautiful material, but it does require a little more care than smooth leather. Because finishes can vary from one handbag to another, I always recommend checking the individual brand’s care instructions first before applying any product or attempting to clean your bag.

A few general habits can help keep suede looking beautiful:

  • Keep it away from water when possible: Several brands recommend avoiding rain and excess moisture, as water can temporarily darken suede or leave marks. If your bag does get wet, gently blot away excess moisture with a clean, dry cloth and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature.

  • Brush gently and only when appropriate: A soft suede brush can help lift the nap and remove light surface dirt once the bag is dry. Strathberry recommends brushing lightly with the natural grain, while DeMellier specifically advises using soft bristles rather than hard plastic or metal.

  • Be mindful of color transfer: Suede can transfer pigment, particularly against light-colored clothing or in humid conditions, so I like to be a little more careful when pairing darker suede bags with white or cream pieces.

  • Store it properly: When you are not carrying your bag, keep it in its dust bag in a cool, dry place away from prolonged sunlight and heat.

  • Use protectants only when the brand recommends them: For example, Le Tanneur specifically recommends applying a suitable waterproofing spray to its suede split leather before first use and repeating the treatment regularly. That does not necessarily mean the same treatment is appropriate for every suede handbag, so I would always check the care instructions for your exact bag first.

  • For stubborn marks, proceed carefully: Some brands recommend a suede or nubuck eraser for dry marks, but again, this is something I would only use if it aligns with the care guidance for your particular bag.

For anything more significant than light surface dirt or a small water mark, I would personally leave it to a professional leather or suede cleaner rather than risk damaging the finish.

Final Thoughts

I hope this edit introduced you to a few new European handbag brands and gave you plenty of suede inspiration for fall and winter.

There are so many beautiful interpretations of suede this season, from relaxed totes and softly structured shoulder bags to more sculptural silhouettes and timeless classics. I especially love how the material adds warmth and texture while still feeling incredibly easy to style with the pieces we already reach for this time of year.

You’ll also find such a wide range of price points throughout this list, from more approachable everyday options to beautifully crafted investment pieces, which makes suede feel especially fun to explore depending on what you are looking for.

For me, a great suede bag is one of those pieces that can completely change the feel of a simple outfit. Paired with denim, knitwear, a trench coat or a beautiful wool layer, it adds just enough depth without feeling overdone.

There are definitely a few styles here staying on my own wishlist this season, and I hope you found a few favorites of your own too, whether you are looking for an everyday bag, a more special piece or simply a new European brand to discover.
