Autumn Style Notes: A Few Wardrobe Favorites This Season

We've had a little taste of cooler weather here in Southern California, where I now live, and it's already had me excited to bring out some of my favorite fall pieces! Growing up in France, fall was always one of my favorite seasons to dress for, and I still look forward to bringing out my cozy knits, favorite coats, and all those lovely autumn textures and colors.

So today, I thought it would be fun to share a few things I'm personally loving this season, from longtime wardrobe favorites to more recent additions and a few pieces I'm looking forward to wearing over the coming weeks.

I've also included some of my previous articles along the way if you'd like to shop and explore these pieces and brands a little more!

Classic Trench Coats

A classic trench coat is one of those pieces I always look forward to wearing when fall comes around. I love how easily it works with everyday outfits, whether I'm wearing denim, tailored trousers, or a simple knit. It's also such a versatile wardrobe staple, especially during those in-between days when the weather is starting to cool down.

One of my personal favorites this season is the Clyde trench from Sézane, which I added to my wardrobe after having it on my wishlist for quite some time. I absolutely love its relaxed silhouette, classic details, and how easily it pairs with so many of the pieces I already own. I wear mine in a size 36, which gives me enough room to layer a knit underneath without feeling too oversized.

I've shared a dedicated review of my Clyde trench, including my thoughts on sizing, fit, and styling. I've also put together an edit featuring 18 European brands with timeless trench coats if you're looking for a little more inspiration!

Cozy Knitwear

Knitwear is easily one of my favorite parts of fall and winter dressing, and I've already started bringing some of my favorite sweaters back into rotation. There's something about a cozy knit paired with a simple pair of jeans or tailored trousers that I always look forward to wearing this time of year.

I particularly love classic styles that are easy to mix and match with pieces I already own, whether that's a beautiful crewneck, a relaxed cardigan, or a slightly more polished knit that can be dressed up or down. I've also been especially drawn to warm neutrals, rich browns, and soft textures this season.

I recently added a few new knits from Sézane to my wardrobe, alongside some longtime favorites I've been wearing for years. It's always fun to rediscover pieces when the seasons change and find new ways to style them!

And if you're looking for a little more knitwear inspiration, I've shared a closer look at my Sézane collection, along with an edit featuring 18 French clothing brands with beautiful knitwear for fall and winter.

Suede & Leather Jackets

I've always loved a beautiful leather or suede jacket, and they're some of my favorite pieces to bring out this time of year. I particularly love the texture they add to an outfit, especially when paired with simple wardrobe staples like denim, knitwear, and tailored trousers.

One of the jackets I've had in my wardrobe for several years now is the Will from Sézane. It's such an easy piece to throw over an everyday outfit, and I love how it adds a slightly more relaxed feel while still looking put together. It's also one of those purchases I've continued to enjoy wearing year after year.

This season, I've been particularly drawn to suede jackets in shades of chocolate brown, camel, and other warm neutrals. I love the softer texture of suede, especially when paired with cream knitwear or darker denim.

If you're looking for a new jacket this season, I've also rounded up 18 French clothing brands with beautiful leather and suede jackets, including a mix of classic silhouettes and some newer styles that have caught my eye!

Suede & Brown Handbags

And of course, I couldn't put together a fall favorites edit without talking about handbags!

I've been especially drawn to suede and rich shades of brown this season, from soft camel and chestnut to deeper chocolate and espresso tones. They're some of my favorite colors to wear during fall, and I love how easily they pair with cream knitwear, trench coats, denim, and other neutral wardrobe staples.

Suede has always been one of my favorite textures for the cooler months. I particularly love how it can soften a more structured handbag silhouette or add a little warmth and texture to an otherwise simple outfit.

I've gathered a few of my current handbag favorites below, including pieces from my own collection and some beautiful styles I've been admiring lately. Among the more recent additions to my wardrobe is the Rachel bag from Nat & Nin in a rich brown suede, a lovely shade for this time of year. And of course, my Polène Cyme Mini in camel is another favorite that pairs beautifully with so many of my fall outfits.

If you're curious about the French handbags I personally own, wear, and love, I've shared a closer look at my collection, including my thoughts on each piece and how they've fit into my wardrobe over time.

And for even more suede handbag inspiration, I've put together two separate edits featuring French and European brands with beautiful suede handbags for fall and winter. Both include a mix of styles, silhouettes, and price points if you're looking to discover something new!

A Little Plaid

Shop the Look

Another favorite for fall is plaid, especially when it comes to beautiful outerwear, scarves, and capes! It's such a lovely way to introduce a little pattern into a wardrobe, especially if you tend to wear more neutral colors like I do.

Last year, I ordered the beautiful Giulia plaid cape from Chloé de Barros, and it's one of the pieces I've been particularly excited to bring back out this season. I absolutely love the silhouette and how easily it can be layered over a simple knit or some of my favorite fall basics. It adds a little something special to an outfit while still feeling effortless and comfortable to wear.

If you're not familiar with Chloé de Barros, I also had the pleasure of interviewing Chloé and learning more about her creative journey, the inspiration behind her designs, and the story of her brand. It was such a lovely opportunity to get to know the person behind these beautiful pieces, and I've included our interview below if you'd like to discover more!

And something I'm especially excited about this fall is that Chloé will be introducing the cape in three new colors: dark gray, camel, and a beautiful heathered brown. I can't wait to see the new versions, and I have a feeling I might have to add another color to my collection!

A Few Finishing Touches

I also wanted to include a few smaller accessories I've been especially enjoying lately, because sometimes it's the little details that make an outfit feel complete.

I've always loved how a few simple accessories can bring an outfit together, whether it's a classic watch, a beautiful necklace, or a little jewelry paired with a cozy knit or a white button-down. I tend to gravitate toward pieces that are easy to wear every day but can also add something special to a more dressed-up look.

I recently added a few new pieces from Agatha Paris to my jewelry collection, including the Madeleine watch and Saint Honoré necklace, which I've been wearing on repeat lately. I shared a closer look at both in a dedicated article if you'd like to discover more about the brand!

And another little favorite lately has been my French hair pin! I've been reaching for a simple updo more and more, especially on days when I want something quick and easy that still feels polished.

I love how such a simple accessory can change the feel of an everyday hairstyle, and it's become one of my favorite ways to put my hair up, whether I'm working from home, heading out for coffee, or getting ready for the day. I've also shared a step-by-step tutorial, along with a video, if you'd like to give it a try yourself!

And if you enjoy discovering French jewelry brands, I've also included my interview with Karine Florencio, the founder of Ferezzi, where we talk a little more about her designs and the story behind the brand!

One of my favorite things about the change of season is getting to rediscover pieces I already have in my wardrobe and finding new ways to style them. And of course, there are still so many beautiful pieces, collections, and French and European brands I'm looking forward to discovering and sharing over the coming weeks! I have quite a few exciting things planned this fall and winter, and I can't wait to bring you along.

I hope this little autumn edit has brought you some inspiration, whether you're looking to discover something new or simply find fresh ways to style the pieces you already own.
